Small ERP Implementation

ERP Implementation

Successful ERP implementation is time consuming process. The most important part of it is to make your employees active participants. They are the ones who will mostly have to use the software, and they are the ones that know best how their departments work. They have to be psychologically prepared for a change, because such a change is inevitable. Unfortunately, most people react to changes negatively because of different reasons. Some of them simply refuse to change their working habits, others find it difficult using the software, yet some may simply hate changes. There are many other reasons for the negative reaction, but these are the facts. This is why managers have to prepare the company for the new order. Employees have the power to sabotage the whole process, or at least make it really slow, ineffective and expensive. If the users don't have any experience with ERP systems , it will be difficult for them to be effective using the software in the beginning. The natural reaction to this is not to use it properly, or not to use it at all. Sometimes, their work becomes more complicated with the ERP. For example, for a merchant it will be easier not to provide the system with all the information required for a deal, because it takes too much time input it. In many cases, they would enter only a part of it with the excuse, that if they actually completed the “thousands” of fields, they would miss on sales. Although this might sound reasonable, more often the real reason is that they simply don’t want to change their working habits. The resolution of this is essential. Often managers want as much information as possible to be entered, so that they are able to generate detailed financial and business reports. Whilst, the users themselves would prefer to enter as less information as possible, because of the time consumed during the process. This is why managers must make sure that their people feel comfortable working with the ERP application. There should be creative communication between the employees and the management, and as little pressure as possible.

Our experience shows that more than 80% of employees don't feel well about the new system and 95% of them get used to the new way of work after several months. They even start to enjoy their work more than before, after learning to work with the software and after their cases with the ERP system are resolved.
